This half-day introductory fly-fishing school covers everything you need to know to get involved in the great sport of fly fishing regardless of whether your quarry is trout, bonefish, bass, or another favorite gamefish that resides in fresh or saltwater. Some of the topics covered in the 5-hour session include:

  • Selecting your fly-fishing equipment
  • Rigging and assembling your fly-fishing gear
  • Casting instruction
  • Fly-fishing tips for various fresh- and salt-water environments
  • Choosing the right fly
  • Fly presentations


Jon Cave’s Performance Fly-Fishing School is one of the premier programs in the country. Thousands of students have attended his schools including guides, fly shop owners, and casting instructors as well as avid anglers seeking the very best in fly casting instruction.

 Jon’s patient and easy-to-understand instruction include lectures, demonstrations, and visual aids combined with lots of hands-on student participation. A light lunch and drinks are provided and loaner gear is available for those who do not have their own.
